In the above article the author states that the Dos Equis brand is relevant through the year and every year since their brilliant ad campaigns began in 2009. Since then, their competitors Heinekin and Corona have had much trouble keeping up with Dos Equis due to the Dos Equis brilliant, "Most Interesting Man In The World" advertising campaign. However, in Mexico the article states the market share of Dos Equis brand of beer has fallen while Corona's market share remains constant. I believe part of this has do with the advertising budgets that go into Dos Equis. In America, a sale is very hard to make and oftentimes does not depend upon how much better a competing product is in regards to another, while in Mexico advertising may not be important. What may be more important is supporting a local brand.

Thanks for this great tips.

What is really important is to attract "the right followers" i.e if you sell diapers you probably want to have new moms in your group, jeans then fashion or sports, biotech expert if you sell NMR systems and it goes.

To do that you also need to listen to the right person and become an asset for the community you are targeting.

What do you think?

One of our newest clients, a cosmetic surgeon, also pointed out that in certain industries, such as the medical field, Groupons aren't the place to purchase these highly skilled services. The old adage "you get what you pay for" comes into play when it comes to cosmetic procedures, hair services, and dental services. So it's not just bad news for the sellers, buyers should also beware!

Lynette: Excellent discussion that continues to get raised in conference after conference. Online tools like Cision and Vocus are adapting to the fact that the days of traditional press outreach is long gone. The key thing for PR professionals to understand is that it is now more than ever an imperative to know what interests a target reporter or blogger is writing about. I have seen a reporter in the tech space Tweet about "how she is meeting with XYZ at ABC Company in an hour to talk about..." The PR person setting this up has all the Q&A lined up but in that one hour the reporter gets tweets on what to ask and what's impoortant. The reporter than changes the entire tenor of the conversation, leaving the spokesman exposed and the PR person looking like they have no idea what is going on. Know your media is more important now. And with everyman a journalist, one must be so careful on how to push information out and pull in. Business media are looking to social media for story ideas and controversy. The successful PR professional understands this and incorporates into any integrated PR and marketing communications strategy.

As for lead, I prefer to look at it as a joint cooperative effort between the business owner of the social media sites a company "owns" (e.g., an offical FB or LI site) and the marketing and PR group. Responses and content should still be managed via PR, but in consultation. Time may not allow for this in the rapid viral nature of social media, but could be used if an issue is of such critical importance that reputational, financial or systemic risk is involved. The PR professional understands these risks, provides appropriate counsel and sometimes just ignoring, even the bad news, is the best course of action.

So your advice that any PR pro who isn't becoming a social media expert... is SPOT ON. But note it is a cultural sea change for those brought up in the tradition of strong relationship building with target reporters. Yeah, I still miss the three martini luch once in a while with my favorite reporter from the Washington Post!

Its rather refreshing to see a blog which actually voices the opinion of a large population ! The idea of KISS is very appealing to me since it takes forever to check my bank account information with scrolling up and down all the time.
Some of the websites have come up with pretty good mobile friendly applications , however these need to be generalized into the other websites !
The blogger has done a wonderful job to lay the facts and get straight to the point!
Hopefully we will be seeing a revolution in the mobile website soon !

Warning: long comment. I apologize before hand but I want to complement this helpful site with my own experience on wealth management . Right now, I work at a large hedge fund that primarily uses options so I'd say I have some insight into the financial sector. Between my husband and I, we've always looked up to Warren Buffet. When Buffett was a young man, he used leverage to became a multimillionaire by forming partnerships and sharing in their profits. He invested very little, but received a large portion of profits in exchange for his brilliant investment decisions. This was a truly win-win situation for him and his partners. My advice is to start slow with investments, read up on the award-winning thesis by Delos Chang - it really details just how great mutaul index funds are. S&P 500, in my opinion, is tough to beat if you're looking for a decent return. Of course, if you're investing during drug wars and mortgage housing crises..that might be a bit difficult. But if you haven't already, take a quick read on the arguments provided in Delos Chang's article if you're investing in the long run - say for children (quick tip: the educational 401k exempts you from federal financial aid). If you're looking to day trade, one advice for you: better get your stuff together because you better know more than the brokers and dealers in the NYSC!

The Nintendo Wii started off the revolution of motion based mostly gaming manage, but they have been not the initial. The Sony PS3 remotes have had gyroscopes in the remote way ahead of the Wii was released, but the full independence that Nintendo produced with their WiiMote has not been defeat due to the fact. For Nintendo Wii followers this new way to command the game program, is not only revolutionary, but also a incredibly immersive gaming experience. There has under no circumstances been a mainstream gaming process that has brought the full family into the gaming motion the way that the Nintendo Wii has in the full heritage of console gaming.

Absolutely agree. As a four-day winner on Jeopardy and the former IBM product manager for supercomputers, this should have been a "special", not a phony imitation of a real Jeopardy game. It boiled down to a question of buzzer control, and Watson won, as will any smart contestant with better reflexes than an equally well-informed competitor. Very good for IBM, not good for Jeopardy.

Nearly every evening, we get together with mom for Jeopardy and she keeps score. My husband always wins.
Even before IBM finished its infomercials on day 1, mom was ready to flip the remote to another channel. This is unheard of. By end of Day 2, with Watson racking up a ridiculous amount of $, we stayed the course with husband gaining more points due to knowledge in several categories.
We will watch Day 3 but certainly not for the fun of Jeopardy. Poor Alex, too bad he didn't play the charmer with Watson by asking about his wife and kids.

Interesting perspective. Other than some added publicity, Jeopardy doesn't gain much. (IBM, on the other hand, gets amazing PR.)

It's a very complicated process to get a website mobile compatiable, but it pays off! I'm sure Google's spider loves to see accessable site content, and will bump you up in the search ranks for it.

Great post Paul. Totally agree with your statement "There is a pre-conceived notion that marketing automation is overly expensive, but that is not the case. There are many systems that are quite moderate in pricing, yet still perform well." This used to be the case when marketing automation was in its infancy but now you can find very reasonably priced applications.

Because mobile web usage has significantly increased, web developers and designers can no longer afford to ignore the fact that websites should have mobile versions. This increase in mobile usage is due to people’s vogue about social media such as Facebook and Twitter. For companies to target more potential customers and clients, creating a mobile version of their website is a great move.
